About

Patrick Allen read Electroacoustics at the University of Salford and trained with BBC TV and Radio. He has over 30 years experience in professional audiovisual production.

Patrick founded Opera Omnia in 1993 and is involved with all projects. He enjoys working with a wide range of performers at all stages of their careers, from those starting out in the profession to internationally renowned artists.

His role on location varies depending upon the project. For straightforward music recordings such as solo or chamber recordings, he normally has the joint role of producer and engineer, but for more complex orchestral recordings he takes on the role of producer or engineer. He has worked for many record labels and broadcasters including Orchid, Chandos, Signum, EMI, Decca, Naxos, Champs Hill, Wigmore Live, BBC, Deutsche Gramophon and Classic FM.

Similarly, for simple filming projects, Patrick can take on the role of director, cinematographer and sound recordist but for more complex projects he is assisted by a team of talented audio/visual engineers. Patrick also holds a commercial drone pilot licence which allows for aerial filming and photography on projects where this is beneficial.

Patrick combines his interest in the creative arts with a professional career in acoustics. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics (FIOA), a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Director of Cass Allen Associates, an acoustics consultancy firm. He has also been a Director of Orchid Classics and Hazard Chase Artist Management.
